Soccer Print E-mail

Soccer is a game of skill, balance and agility which has many benefits, especially for those who constantly play and watch the game. It has multiple health benefits as it is a regular aerobic physical activity which increases an individual’s fitness level and enhances their muscular capacity and stamina to accommodate a competitive exercise.

Through constant practices, individuals will observe a marked improvement in their psycho-motor skills, physical endurance and agility as well as mental capacity in terms of will power as one trains their determination to score a goal. Physical activity reduces feelings of depression and anxiety, improves mood and promotes a sense of well-being in an individual. Team sports would teach individuals how to be a participating contributing member and encourages discipline especially when rules need to be followed. It gives them an opportunity to develop friendship and to train muscles and senses; sport is definitely a means to improve their gross motor development skills.

In collaboration with the Eagles Soccer School, Mr. Bernard Norbert and Mr. Mutu, both veteran soccer coaches, train our DSA Singapore soccer members the basic control of the ball, soccer kicking techniques, goal scoring, foot training and sharpening their running and breathing skills. These are among the many aspects of soccer training which our members learn during the soccer clinics we conduct. In addition, positions such as Captain, Mid Fielder and Goalkeeper provide opportunities for our members to utilise their leadership skills.

The soccer training is ongoing every Sunday 8.00am to 9.30am at Farrer Park Soccer Field, Opp KK Children’s and Women’s Hospital.
