Membership Rules

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP

The Down Syndrome Association (Singapore) offers several types of membership, with accompanying terms, conditions, and fees payable. Please read through carefully, and select the type of membership which best suit you.
By applying for membership, it is deemed that you are in agreement with the objectives of the Association, which are set forth clearly in the Constitution. It is also important that you understand that as a member, you will do your best to uphold and support the Constitution, our duly elected Board of Management, and participate actively in our activities.

ORDINARY MEMBERSHIP

This is opened to persons aged 18 and above with or without Down syndrome, and/or has an interest in Down syndrome. Membership fee is $20.00 per person and must be renewed annually. All Ordinary members are entitled to vote as set forth in the Constitution.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

This is open to all those who satisfy the criteria for membership, is interested in the objectives of the Association, but who are under 18 years of age. The fee payable is $5.00 per year and must be renewed annually.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP

Life membership is open to those who satisfy the criteria for Ordinary membership, and who pay the one-time fee of $200.00. All Life members are entitled to vote as forth in the Constitution.

FAMILY MEMBERSHIP

Family membership is open to any Ordinary Member who pays the prescribed fee for his/her family to become members of the Association. "Family" refers to that Ordinary Member's spouse, children below 18 years of age, parents and/or unmarried siblings up to a maximum of five (5) members of which at least one member (1) must be a person with Down syndrome.

Membership fee is $55.00 per family, and must be renewed annually. Each family is entitled to two (2) votes at a General Meeting. Applications for Family Membership must be made on a Family Membership Application Form.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP

All membership is valid until 31 December, regardless of the date of joining. For Ordinary members who joined after 30 June, you are eligible to sign up for an extended initial membership at $30.00 in which case your membership will end on 31 December of the following year.

All members shall pay their fees promptly.

All members should renew their membership no later than Feb 1.

Approval of membership application is at the discretion of the Association upon the recommendation of the elected Board of Management.

The Association reserves the right to amend the fees of membership at any time.
